About Futrus International Media Caravan

From a Broken Wing to a Global Voice

The name Futrus comes from an ancient story in Shia Islamic tradition. Futrus was an angel who, after disobeying a divine command, lost his wings and was distanced from the presence of God. For a long time, he lived in this state of separation, unable to soar as he once had.

Then came a turning point. On the day Imam Hussein — the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad — was born, God allowed Futrus to approach the newborn. When he touched the infant’s cradle, his wings were miraculously restored, and he returned to his place among the angels.

In Shia culture, Futrus has since stood as a powerful symbol of:

  • Return and repentance — the possibility of coming back, no matter how far one has strayed.

  • Intercession and connection — the belief that closeness to pure, selfless figures can help us draw nearer to God.

  • Mercy and hope — the assurance that compassion is always within reach.

  • Our Mission

The Futrus International Media Caravan draws inspiration from this story to guide our own mission: telling the world about Arbaeen, the largest peaceful gathering on Earth, and the timeless message of Imam Hussein — a stand for justice, truth, and human dignity.

We believe that stories, like wings, can lift people. Our work is to capture and share the human experiences, values, and voices of Arbaeen in ways that are understandable and relatable to all, regardless of culture, language, or faith.

Through photography, video, audio, and written narratives, we aim to:

  • Show the human side of Arbaeen — the generosity, unity, and resilience of millions of pilgrims.

  • Translate spiritual values into universal language — so ideas like sacrifice, justice, and community can be felt by anyone.

  • Create a trusted global archive — preserving authentic, high-quality stories for media, educators, and future generations.

  • Connect history to the present — revealing how Imam Hussein’s message continues to inspire movements for freedom and dignity today.

Our Approach

We work where the heart of the story beats — among the people, on the roads from Najaf to Karbala, in the tents and gathering places of the pilgrimage. Our international team produces content in multiple languages, ensuring that the message of Arbaeen crosses borders without losing its essence.

Just as Futrus found his wings through Imam Hussein, we believe our role is to give wings to these stories — lifting them beyond boundaries so they can inspire, unite, and bring hope to people around the world.
